Local Purchasing: Did you know Dining Services sources food from several local farmers, growers and distributors? The list changes throughout the year depending on seasonal availability. Here is a sampling of a few of our partners:

Reusables: If you use a travel mug or disposable cup, you can save 10 cents on coffee at locations across campus, including Einstein Bros. Bagels, Starbucks, Watt Cafe, and P.O.D. Markets.

Recycling: Dining Services partners with campus to recycle food waste for compost, metal, cans, plastic, cardboard and paper products from all dining locations across campus to minimize our environmental footprint. Look for signs in our locations for information on where to put your recyclables.

Trayless Dining:  Did you know Dining Services has been trayless since 2005? Dining trayless helps to positively impact the waste stream by minimizing food waste, conserving energy and water, and reducing the amount of cleaning chemicals entering the waste stream.

Reusable To-Go Containers: Getting your meal to go from any of our dining halls? Take part in our Reusable To-Go Container program. Here’s how it works:
Our To-Go Container Program is free to join for Meal Plan members and only costs $5 per semester for those without Meal Plans. Just let a cashier at Schilletter or Fresh Food Co. Dining Hall know that you would like to participate and you will receive a To-Go Box for immediate use. The next time you would like a to-go meal, bring back your used To-Go Box and receive a clean one or a key tag to use for later. To- Go Boxes are not permitted for dine-in use in any of the dining halls.

Fryer Oil Recycling: 100% of fryer oil used by dining services is recycled to be used for bio-diesel.

Recycled Content Paper: We use 30% recycled content office and copy paper in all dining locations on campus.

Green Cleaning: We are committed to using green cleaning products by Ecolab in our daily operations to reduce the need for chemical based cleaning products and provide a healthy and safe learning environment.

Energy & Water Conservation: We train our employees each semester on common energy and water conservation practices in order to conserve precious natural resources.
